The idea
Black so deep it hums, with one colour: a chemical acid green used for the things you are meant to press. Wide, stretched display type, monospaced readouts, a faint 32px grid. It borrows from 90s rave flyers and oscilloscope screens and drops the nostalgia.
Acid Black fuses early-90s acid house flyers with the green phosphor of oscilloscopes and studio meters. The page is near-black, the type is white, and a single chemical green (#C6FF00) is reserved for things that act: buttons, cursors, live values, focus. A wide display face in uppercase gives the flyer energy; monospaced readouts give the instrument precision. A faint 32px grid sits underneath like graph paper on a lightbox. It should feel nocturnal, technical and slightly dangerous.
Principles
- Green means interactive or live; never use it for decoration.
- Black is the room — keep 80% of every screen dark and empty.
- Pair one wide display line with mono readouts; no third voice.
- Wrap labels in square brackets like terminal output.
- Glow only on hover and focus; resting states are flat.
Motion
The hero prompt types itself out in stepped bursts with a blinking acid-green block cursor. Hovered cards light their border acid green and throw a 24px green glow, like a channel peaking on a mixer.
Do & don't
Do
- ✓ Animate the hero prompt with a stepped typewriter and block cursor.
- ✓ Use bracketed mono labels like [ 01 / FEATURES ].
- ✓ Keep the background grid at 6% opacity white.
Don't
- ✕ Don't use green for body text or paragraphs.
- ✕ Don't add a second accent beyond the pink alarm colour.
- ✕ Don't round corners.
