The idea
An electric car launch at midnight: graphite black, a car silhouette rim-lit in cold blue, and wide extended capitals that feel engineered in a wind tunnel. Frosted glass panels float spec numbers over the dark like a heads-up display. Precise, quiet and fast.
Electric Drive is an automotive system for electric vehicles that sell on engineering and calm. It draws on 1970s rally graphics, aerospace heads-up displays and contemporary low-key car studio photography: a graphite night canvas, a single ice-blue light used like a rim light, extended wide capitals that look aerodynamic, and frosted glass panels carrying spec numbers in mono. The car is always the hero, lit from the edge. It should feel precise, quiet and fast — engineered rather than decorated.
Principles
- Light the product like a studio: one thin edge of ice blue on black.
- Specs are the poetry — set them big, in mono, with units.
- Use wide extended capitals sparingly; they're for headlines only.
- Frame data in glass panels with corner brackets like a HUD.
- Never shout; electric is silent.
Motion
The hero car is revealed by a thin ice-blue light line sweeping from left to right across its silhouette; spec numbers count up in mono as their glass panels sharpen from a blur.
Do & don't
Do
- ✓ Always include units with numbers (km, kWh, min).
- ✓ Use tabular mono figures for every spec.
- ✓ Light products with a single cold rim light.
Don't
- ✕ Don't use warm colours or gold.
- ✕ Don't show cars in daylight lifestyle shots.
- ✕ Don't round corners beyond 4px.
