The idea

The website of a small weaving workshop where everything is made by hand and explained with care. Flax, oat and madder-red tones, a friendly soft-shouldered serif, stitched dashed borders and photographs of looms and folded cloth in morning light. Warm, tactile and honest about how long things take.

Linen Atelier is a craft workshop speaking plainly about its work. It draws on the Arts and Crafts movement's respect for materials, the hand-lettered labels of rural workshops and contemporary documentary craft photography. A soft, sturdy serif gives warmth to headlines; a clear sans handles the explanations. Rounded corners at 10px, dashed stitch borders and warm diffuse shadows make every element feel like it was handled, not rendered.

Principles

  • Explain the making: materials, hours, tools and names.
  • Show hands-on objects in daylight, never studio packshots.
  • Soft corners and stitched borders; nothing sharp or glossy.
  • Use plain, friendly labels — no small caps, no monospace.
  • Let earth tones do the work; avoid pure black and white.

Motion

Cards rise 4px on hover with a warm, diffuse shadow like cloth lifted off a table. Images cross-fade between two angles of the same object every 6 seconds.

Do & don't

Do

  • ✓ Name the weaver, the loom and the number of days.
  • ✓ Use dashed stitch borders on cards and dividers.
  • ✓ Keep corners at 10px for cards, buttons and images.

Don't

  • ✕ Don't use pure black (#000) or pure white (#FFF).
  • ✕ Don't use uppercase tracking or small caps.
  • ✕ Don't use hard shadows or glossy effects.
